TARA DEMANDS IMPLEMENTATION OF GOVERNMENTAL SCHEMES IN DARJEELING HILLS

Cpi(m) kalimpong zonal committee general secretary Tara Sundas has
submitted a memorandum via fax to the centre minister s.jaipal reddy
minister in charge of the petroleum and the natural gas complaining
about the insufficient supply of cooking gas and kerosin oil in the
Darjeeling hills . He has cited that the shortage is leading to
deforestation as there is no alternate for the people to cook the
food. Tara Sundas has accused the centre of depriving off the schemes
of government of India. Citing example of the West Bengal Rajiv Gandhi
Gramin LPG distribution scheme and the Janta Kerosin Programme of the
centre these scheme has been implemented throughout the state except
dghc area. Tara said that "In every sphere we are been deprived and in
this contest how can we call ourselves Indians as none of the
governmental scheme are implemented here". He has raised question
about the distribution pattern of the LPG services in the town, a
house gets a lpg gas in a minimum of 50 days which is not sufficient
to the requirement of people living in this area. He has demanded to
implement the above said schemes of the government for the benefit of
the people of the Darjeeling hills.
